Today, I would like to introduce you the 12 coolest new inventions that were chosen by the Industrial Designers Society of America. Besides, I will give out some of my opinions about those inventions. Some products I thought are awesome, but some objects may not be really useful in the real world.
You can take a look of this website "12 Coolest New Inventions", which is from The Daily Beast, and then I will introduce those inventions one by one as followed.
1. A Better Mousetrap:
Although this mousetrap could catch the mouse without killing them, what people will do to the next step, to kill them or to feed them? I have no idea of what the purpose of this invention.2. The Grill to End All Grills:
The most important concept of this grill equipment is all-in-one. Like i-pods, this machine combines different functions to be more compact.
3. Flash Drive as Accessory:
People will regard a flash drive as a key. why? It is necessary for you to bring your key everyday is as same as it is essential for you to use a flash drive to save documents everyday. Actually, I do not think it is the new invention because I saw the same application on the pens and decorations before. For the USB flash drive industry, it is easy to produce flash drives. In fact, there are no barriers to enter this market. Therefore, companies would come up with know-how to compete with their competitors.
4. Beauty in the Kitchen:
Creating this kitchen, the inventor wanted not only to have the elegant atmosphere but also to save energy by adding a convection and air flow distribution. In my opinion, the issue of environmentally friendly is the selling point.
5. Doors of Perception:
I have no idea with this locker because I do not use any sliding door in my home.
6. A Modern Rosetta Stone:
Rosetta Stone was used to translate the ancient Egyptian language.
The creator named his product to demonstrate the similar conception of the Rosetta Stone.
7. Out Mac-ing the Mac:
There is no doubt that Mac is a successful company. Every year, they announce the new and amazing products to the public. From their products, we can tell that the wireless skill is still a trend and will be lasting for a while in the IE industry.
8. Garden in a Box:
Here is another invention about environmentally friendly. It shows that people are more and more aware of this issue.
9. Voice-powered Car: 
The resources are limited, so people try finding a way to use resources effectively. This is a car was made by less mental materials. The surprising thing is that people can drive a car by speaking. However, I wonder that if a person who can not speak, how he can control the car by voice. Furthermore, if people are talking in the car, how this car can respond to those sounds and take actions.
10. Plug In, Then Zero to 150:
This sportbike is combined computer and motorcycle. This shows that a lot of things will connect with the computer in the future.
11. Perpetual Light:
Nowadays, water resource becomes a big problem, especially the clean water resource. Not only because of pollutions but also because of population explosion, available and clean water will be difficult to get. Hence, I am not sure that this light maker will be practical in the future.
12. Pack-and-go Bicycle:
The zero pollution bikes become very popular after people are aware of the global warming. As I said before, the green products still have been a trend in the market.
I usually take participate in the innovation forum in my home country. I really enjoy exploring different inventions around the world because those objects can make our society become better and better and show the unlimited imagination of our brains. Moreover, I believe that demand creates supply, this concept is one of the economic theory. Observing those inventions allows me to think what the trend of the world is or what people are interested in. Furthermore, in the list of the innovators, I discovered that the some countries, such as Germany, U.S.A., England, South Korea, ..., and etc., are devoted to invent the new products.
Now, it is your turn to give me your point of views about those inventions. I would like to know 1 or 2 objects that are interested in you and explain your reasons. Otherwise, you could choose 1 or 2 objects to express your different opinions from me or the inventor.

ReplyDeleteIt's interesting post. I like many things especially 'Beauty in the kitchen' and 'Perpetual light'. As time has gone many type of product showed and then disappeared.
ReplyDeleteSome of them remain long time like Coca Cola. I hope that many product remains long time. I find interesting product sometimes, but they disappeared without any notice. As you said sometimes I surprise that about people's creativity. Thank you for your post.
IT seen like visit the world expo! Do you know the expo? Now it is opening in shanghai! Most chinese know the expo in shanghai,and many people go there to see each countries' new inventions and their cultrue.I saw just like the Voice-powered Car in Japan Pavilion of Shanghai expo.Now all the world to promote energy conservation. The car reduce more oil and for disabled person who cant drive the car...but i think it still has a little bit dangerous when they drive on the road.

And the door of perception are more advanced that people don't worry about thieves forced open the door to theft.It protects the privacy.....
8. Garden in a Box
ReplyDeleteIt is really a cute invention. People can complete their dream of decorating their own garden in a more convenient way. What's more, a little garden at home or office can light up the boring and tiresome daily life and set an optimistic tone for a brand new day. Plus, plants can also clarify the air and provide you with enough oxygen, which can make you stay awake and work more efficiently.
9. Voice-powered Car
I have the same question with you that how can the car recognize between order and normal sounds. I think the host should say some particular words before order the car so that the computer in the car can be ready to receive messages.
Dear Klaus: I agree with you that many products could not stand for a long time. However, only if the object is not useful to the people, it will be weeded out. On the other words, only the practical products would be kept to use.
ReplyDeleteDear Yoyo: I want to see the Shanghai expo!! There must be a plenty of inventions in this expo. I think Mac know how to catch the public’s attentions. The door of perception is designed for being convenient to open rather than protecting the privacy.
Dear Serena: your thinking is deeper. That is the thing I want to hear from everyone. I may have this garden in a box someday, but I want this box could be automatic to run the whole process. The reason is that I am not good at taking care of the plants.
The only invention that atrracts me is the perpetual light because it is perpetual!!! I have tried hard to make sure the word is really "perpetual"! Any thing that can be used permanently and is successfully created is unprecedented. If it is true that a thing that we need to use every moment and that costs huge energy can be utilized freely now, the whole society is going to change.

I think Flash Drive as Accessory is a very good idea, it could bring more convenient to us, it is a nice invention.

of wonder when they saw the development of new inventions.
I like voice-powered car, Garden in box, and beauty in Kitchen. I like cooking and trying new things. I can't believe there are cars can controled by voice. I wish I can buy one to drive conveniently. And Garden in box is very creative and it can save space.
There is also one word famous: you want to know a personality of a girl?? Visit her kitchen. Indeed, beauty in Kitchen is very elegant. I am alreay imagineing the scene eating at the elegant kitchen like sitting in the room of Royalty.

I actually like and interested in Voice-powered car. That is amazing, there are not a lot of info but it is more developed than it seems I think. I think the car wont mix the talkings. If they made this, they also made it perfectly to avoid any problem..

ReplyDeleteI really can not understand the purpose of this invention, neither.Be honest, I think this invention is unnecessary and a little bit silly. Mice do cause troubles to us. I think nobody wants to see their appearances in the house, it's disgusting. In this case, we don't need to let mice be alive. Instead, we should kill them in order to prevent their appearances in our house.
2.Pack-and-go Bicycle
I like this invention veru much for its value to our living environment.How amazing that it's zero pollution! Since the global warming is worsening, we should do our best to avoid increasing pollution.

Actually, I tried to get a patent although I failed. : ) Anyway, I am excited to see such a creative inventions. As we can see, there are lots of inventions that is related with the scarcity of power resource and environment problem. Since these are getting more serious, lots of people effort to solve the problems. After graduation, it is my dream to invent objects that can save energy effectively.
Dear Justin: How amazing this word “perpetual” is!! When I saw the name of this product, I was so surprised. However, just as I said, I did not catch any idea of being perpetual with this invention because they need the clean water to make it work. I agree with you that a perpetual thing is difficult to find and have.

I am not the inventor so that I exactly do not know how to combine motorcycle and computer. The second inquiry is interesting. I do not know, either. However, I would like to make a guess. “Mac-ing”was like a form of the gerund. It may imply that the condition is continuing. Therefore, my guess is that the trend of Mac will be standing in the future.
Dear Bowen: I have no idea what kind of information you want. You want the official website of the Mac. Moreover, I love flash drive as accessory, too. Nevertheless, more and more people will save their documents on their internet space because it is more bigger than the flash drive.
Dear Lisa: Oh~ That is true!! Garden in box can save space, and it is appropriate to dispose this garden box in the city. Are you a cook? Actually, I am not good at cook, so this kitchen is not attractive to me.

ReplyDeleteI would say the "garden in a box" is one of the more impressive inventions because it eliminates the need for pesticides and seems to encourage healthy eating!
I find the "key-shaped" USB drives handy, and, personally, find the "friendly" elegant mousetrap refreshing. My husband and I once had to deal with a mouse in our apartment when we were living in New York City, and it was rather unpleasant and gritty. Nothing like coming face-to-face with a mouse to make you question what it means to be "humane" to animals or other creatures living on this planet with us.

ReplyDeleteThose inventions are very impressive, especially some interestings ones. I believe that in the future, such inventions like you listed above will be invented more and more. Although I think some of them are not so revolutionary enough, the idea and origen purpose are very worthy. Especially in mordern times, these eco-friendly ideas are particularly important. Here's some personal opinion from me.
3. Key-shaped falsh disk
I have already got one key-shaped USB disk in the previous time. The idea is not bad, but I have to say maybe this is a unsuccessful invention, at least not successful for me. I used to run and jump a lot, and my poor USB-key has been hit by the metal real key for thousand times in a single day. At last, my USB-key was devastated in one month. Oh, my poor key-shaped USB flash disk...
8. Garden in a box
This is such a great invention that most family would like to have one in their home. My mother was always talking about she wants to do some gardening as a hobby. I believe this is the invention that she would like the most! however, I was just thinking about how can we solve the sun-shine problem with this invention?
9.Voice-powered car
Another interesting invention that shows how the tecnology in changing. With this speed of development, I believe in no distant future, such invention will go into our life and become the most daily-common things just like computers did in this ten years.It is a tendency that such technology like acoustic control is combining themselves to others.
Dear Amir: I know what do you mean. Some inventions, such as pesticides, nuclear weapons, and CFC could not only kill us but also destroy whole lives of the Earth. The main problem is not the inventions but the users. That is, the way to use the product decides whether it is harmful to the mankind or not.

Dear Joshua: WOW!! You already had had this flash disk. Thank you for telling me the disadvantage of this key-shaped flash disk. They should take some user experiences serious. Everybody likes garden in a box, like you do. To deal with the problem that you mentioned, the inventor may use the special light as the sunlight to run the whole the box garden as a small greenhouse. I think it is not difficult to set.
